Prince George County Public Schools will open for the 2026-27 School Year on Monday, August 24, 2026. Parents/guardians who are new to PGCPS are encouraged to call and schedule an appointment this summer at the school their child will be attending in the coming year.
Contact information for PGCPS' schools and useful student registration resources can be found on the district's main website, http://www.pgs.k12.va.us.
From there, families will find instructions for those parents/guardians who have children entering the division for the first time, those families new to the area, and those with current students who need to register their child for kindergarten within our Synergy and ParentVUE platform. The Student Registration page also has a list of documents families will need to bring with them for enrollment, residency information, and frequently asked questions specifically for kindergarten registration.
Registration for each student will take approximately 60 to 90 minutes, depending upon completion and review of documents. Appointments are limited and fill quickly, so families are encouraged to call or submit their online form early. Completing this process ahead of the start of the 2026-27 School Year ensures students new to PGCPS, including new kindergarteners, are able to begin the year on-time with their peers on the first day of school, Monday, August 24, 2026.
If a child receives special services (e.g., Individualized Education Program (IEP), 504, and/or health plan, etc.), families are asked to bring a copy of the paperwork with them to their registration appointment.
To prepare for the start of the school year, Prince George County Public Schools will close registration on Thursday August 13, 2026, as staff engage in division-wide professional development.
Student registrations for the 2026-2027 School Year will resume on Friday, August 14, 2026, and the week of August 17-21, 2026, with limited appointments as staff prepare for student orientation and the opening of school.
- Prince George High School - August 18, 2026, 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.
- J.E.J. Moore Middle School (7th Grade Only) - August 19, 2026, 8 a.m. - 11 a.m.
- N.B. Clements Junior High School - August 19, 2026, 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.
- J.E.J. Moore Middle School (6th Grade Only) - August 20, 2026, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- All Elementary Schools - August 20, 2026, A.M. Sessions

Students who are not registered for the 2026-2027 School Year by August 21, 2026, will receive a start date and schedule (Grades 6-12) following the first day of school on August 24, 2026.
