Ducks For Good: N.B. Clements' Royal Duck Shop Offers Students Rewards in Exchange for Positive Behaviors

October 13, 2025

Students at N.B. Clements Junior High School are being recognized for their positive behaviors and citizenship while at school through a unique program that pairs ducks and the almighty dollar.

As the 2025-26 School Year gets underway, the team at Clements unveils The Royal Duck Shop, a key part of the school's Virginia Tiered Systems of Support (VTSS) initiative. Set up in the hallway just outside of the school's cafeteria on select days, students can use their "Duck Bucks" to buy a variety of items, including snacks, drinks, treats, fidgets, and other assorted items.

Students earn "Duck Bucks" from their teachers as they demonstrate outstanding behavior, and the program serves as a positive reinforcement of expectations of conduct while at school, bringing their collection to several tables full of purchasable items.

In addition to the rewards students can exchange their "Duck Bucks" for at the store, they also have the chance to enter a raffle for a themed tumbler, with each raffle ticket costing one "Duck Buck."

A display of items students can purchase with their Duck Bucks hangs on the wall.

The opportunities to participate in The Royal Duck Shop don't stop at shopping. The in-school shop is staffed by members of Clements' VTSS Student Committee, comprising students who exemplify royal pride and serve as positive role models within our school community.
