VDOE Student Assessment Summary Information for PGCPS Families

June 7, 2023

Over the past month, many students in grades 3-12 across Prince George County Public Schools (PGCPS) have been completing Standards of Learning (SOL) assessments. The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is providing parents and guardians with documents that allow them to see their child’s performance on SOL tests over time.

This week, your child may bring home one or more of the following documents that contain information on your child’s SOL performance.
  • VDOE Student Assessment Summary - This report shows your child’s SOL testing history through the 2021-2022 school year. You will be able to see trends in your child’s testing history and see how your child’s performance compares to other students across the state. Students who were enrolled in PGCPS by October 1, 2022, will receive a Student Assessment Summary report.
  • VDOE Parent Letter for the Student Assessment Summary - This letter provides more detailed information about the Student Assessment Summary report. If your child does not receive a Student Assessment Summary report, they will not receive the parent letter.
  • PGCPS Parent Access to Spring 2023 SOL Results - This document, provided by PGCPS, gives parents information they can use to access their child’s SOL test results for the spring 2023 non-writing tests. Along with access to the score for each SOL test their child took during spring 2023, parents will also be able to view reports for each assessment that show student strengths and weaknesses.
Please review the following information regarding when your child will bring these documents home for your review:
  • Elementary Students (Grades 3-5): These documents will be distributed to elementary students by their teachers in class during the week of June 5-9, 2023.
  • Secondary Students (Grades 6-12): Students will receive these documents as they return their Chromebooks at the end of the year during the week of June 5-9, 2023.
The Virginia Department of Education and Prince George County Public Schools appreciate parents and guardians as important partners in each child’s education. These reports will provide parents and guardians valuable information related to their child’s testing performance.

If you have any questions about any of these documents, please reach out to Wade Kliebenstein through email at [email protected] or by phone at (804) 733-2700.
