PGCPS Annual Spring Fling Showcases Artistic Talents of Prince George County Students

March 13, 2023

Prince George High School gave France's iconic Louvre Museum a run for its artistic money as hundreds poured into the campus' halls for Prince George County Public Schools' signature fine arts showcase, the Spring Fling event.

Held on Saturday, March 11, 2023, the high school hosted many artistic festivities throughout the day-long event. Within the foyer between the high school's auditorium and gymnasium, hundreds of pieces of student-made art were on display. The exhibits spanned mediums and materials, from paints to colored pencils, handmade crafts, and more, drawing intrigued eyes all day. Each of the district's schools had its own dedicated gallery in the concourse area, giving attendees a chance to see the talents of Prince George County's rising artists at a glance.

Steps away from the visual arts showcase, the performing arts were on display as the musical stylings of the district's bands, the J.E.J. Moore Royal Band, the N.B. Clements Junior High School Band, and the Prince George High School Symphonic, each delivered stirring instrumental showcases to dozens of spectators in the grandstands in the PGHS Royals gym. In the auditorium, choral selections from the North Elementary Chorus, South Elementary's Star Choir, the Harrison Bears Choir, and the Beazley Elementary Chorus, alongside the J.E.J. Moore Chorus, N.B. Clements' Select Ensemble, and the Prince George High School Chamber Singers offered strong vocal music performances that left an impression on the dozens seated and applauding each showcase.

Fans of the dramatic arts were treated to theatric performances from PG Players, N.B. Clements Junior High School Drama, and J.E.J. Moore Middle School Drama groups under the bright lights of the high school's main stage, the home to many productions during a given school year.

The annual event supports the Spring Fling Arts Scholarship program through generous donations by attendees. The scholarship provides a graduating Prince George senior whose been actively involved in their fine arts discipline while in school and intends to pursue the field in college study with funds to benefit their education.
